Welcome!

Dr. Ruff is an optometrist practicing primary eye care which involves prescribing glasses and contact lenses, diagnosing and treating eye diseases and glaucoma.  Patients are routinely evaluated for diabetic and hypertensive retinopathies, macular degeneration, and cataracts.  In addition to adults, Dr. Ruff manages the visual needs of children, including their binocular and accommodative (focusing) status. Dr. Ruff discusses with each patient their diagnosis and treatment plan. Further, she believes that communicating with her patients’ doctors is a vital part in maintaining continuity of care.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Dr. Ruff received both her Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and her Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Her externship rotations included ocular disease, primary care and low vision, pediatric and binocular vision/vision therapy, and contact lenses. In addition, she has also participated in several vision screenings conducted throughout South Florida’s underprivileged community. Dr. Ruff is a member of both the American and Virginia Optometric Associations.  She can conduct eye exams in Spanish as well.

Her diagnostic training involved the following equipment:

Heidelberg Retina Topography (HRT),

Optical Coherence Topography (OCT),

pachymeter,

EPIC refraction system,

manual & automatic lensometer,

dilation & irrigation of lacrimal duct

Dr Ruff currently lives in Oakton, Virginia.  She enjoys bike riding, jazz music, and the Miami Dolphins.
